Class 34 – Homecrafts and Quilts

Arthur Fall Fairs Rules and Regulations:
1. All domestic goods (sewing & crafts) must be work of the exhibitors. Except for sections that state otherwise
2. Judges are authorized to disqualify soiled, worn or inappropriate items.
3. Each exhibitor may have only one entry per section.
4. All work may be shown for no more than 2 years.
5. In cases of no competition, the prize will be withheld unless the exhibit is worthy of a prize.
6. Entries must be ticketed and placed by 11:30am. Fri. Sept. 9th, 2022. THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
7. Safety pins, no straight pins for attaching tickets to an article.
8. New exhibitors, mark your entry tag N.E (NEW EXHIBITOR) next to your name.
9. Labels on projects need to be covered.
10. No computerized machine quilted entries accepted unless quilting is not to be judged.
Hall will be locked on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
It will be opened again at 4:30 for pick-up of your exhibits – no one allowed to get items until this time
OAAS Annual Hand Quilted Championship Quilt & Machine Quilted Championship Quilt
Eligibility, Rules and Regulations
1.) Entries must be solely quilted by the exhibitor; this is for both Machine & Hand Quilts
2.) Entry quilts must be a minimum of 324” measured on the perimeter (smaller quilts will not be eligible to proceed to the next level of competition) Note: the quilt can be square, rectangular etc. and Machine Quilts must have visible machine quilting.
3.) Arthur Fair is entitled to send only the Grand Champion Quilt from each type of Quilt section (Machine & Hand), (min. 324” measured on the perimeter) judged the best of show of all Hand and Machine quilted quilts to the District Competition; OR If any entry wins GRAND CHAMPION or BEST of ALL ELIGIBLE QUILTS at more than one Fair, the other Fairs at which this quilt was entered and won, should enter their RESERVE CHAMPION or SECOND BEST OF SHOW OF ALL CLASSES quilt in the District Competition

Judges Criteria for Quilts
General Appearance – 25 points; Colour/Materials – 20 points; Workmanship Quilting – 30 points; Borders – 10 points; Binding/Picots – 10 points; Batting& Lining – 5 points

Sections: 16-20: $7.00, $6.00, $5.00
Sections 1-4
The first and second prize winners will be judged again, and a Grand Champion Hand Quilted Quilt and Reserve Champion Quilt will be chosen from eligible entries. The Grand Champion Quilt must go to the District Annual or forfeit prize and rosette. Quilts must be at least 324″ perimeter, include pattern name and creator.
1. Quilt, hand appliquéd – hand quilted
2. Quilt, pieced – hand quilted
3. Quilt, reversible, two solid colours (whole cloth), quilting to count – hand quilted
4. Quilt, sampler design, pieced or appliquéd, every block different pattern – hand quilted
5. Quilt, machine quilted, perimeter measurement to be 324″ or more. All work to be done by exhibitor. (See Rules & Regulations for OAAS Machine quilt competition above)
6. Quilt as you go Quilt. (Machine quilted) twin bed size or larger.
7. A Pieced Quilt, 324” perimeter or larger. Top and binding must be done by Exhibitor and can be quilted by another party, include Name of Quilter. Top and binding only to be judged. Computerized quilting accepted since quilting not judged.
8. An embroidered or appliqued quilt 324” perimeter or larger. Top and binding to be done by exhibitors and can be quilted by another party, include name of quilter. Top and binding to be judged. Computerized quilting accepted since quilting not judged.
9. Quilt, tied, or biscuit, larger than a child’s quilt.
10. Quilt, youth, under 324″perimeter, suitable for a single bed, hand quilted.
11. Quilt, youth, under 324″perimeter, suitable for a single bed, machine quilted. Top and Binding must be done by exhibitor and can be quilted by another party. Include name of Quilter. Top and Binding only to be judged. Computerized quilting accepted since quilting not judged.
12. A Quilt, at least double bed size, made from blocks from an online quilt along project. Top and Binding must be done by exhibitor and can be quilted by another party. Include name of Quilter. Top and Binding only to be judged. Computerized quilting accepted since quilting not judged.
13. Novelty Quilt can include embellishments; any size – could be 2 party – Top and Binding to be judged. Computerized quilting accepted since quilting not judged.
14. Pre-printed panel/top, hand or machine quilted. All work by exhibitor.
15. Canada themed Quilt, any size, only top & binding to be judged
16. Child's quilt, approximately 45″x54″ appliquéd or pieced, hand quilted.
